What was your role or job in the band (literally or figuratively)?
I founded Klymaxx in the early 80's. At the time, I did a lot of advertising in local papers, but found most of the girls through word of mouth. I am the original drummer, but evolved later into the band's personality, rapper and occasional lead singer.
What was the impact Klymaxx had in the 80's?
Klymaxx had an amazing impact on women. We were vain and proud of it. We proclaimed statements like: "I know we look good and we're sexy too." We were expressing all the vain things that most women may want to say but never dared to. At least not in public. On a musical level the band didn't rely on any male help since we played all our instruments, which, at the time, was an exceptional fact.
Have you kept any of your stage clothes?
Yes, but not on purpose.
What have you been up to in the past years?
I own a vintage clothing store that I also operate. I carry clothes dating back to the 1900's, which I consider a cool hobby. I still write and produce music, work on soundtracks and special projects such as "Divas Las Vegas" for Bette Midler and "To Wong Foo" for Universal Pictures, just to name a few.
What do you expect from the reunion?
I hope Klymaxx will tour this year. It would be fun to bring back a little Old School.
How did you enjoy the comeback performance at the Roxy in Los Angeles?
It was magical. We did not know what to expect, but I do believe it was one of our best shows. I think, we all have grown and we are more confident and self-assured. I think, I am much sexier than I was 10 years ago. Slap me!
